More than just the Superbowl

So, it's been a long journey, but we finally have a little bit of success.  Sunday D wore real undies all day.

Highlight of the day was when looked at me "I have to poop"  I scooped him up and ran into the bathroom.  Onto the toilet -literally-not a moment too soon.

PLOP.

WAHOO!  In celebration D was able to get his new toy he picked out a few weeks back for this very occasion.

Now if we could only get him to go at daycare...that's a battle for another time.

Commando

So, took D over to a friends house and he had to go potty. I showed him where it was and helped him wash his hands. About 5-10 minutes later-he has to go again. He said that he can "do it myself". Then comes the "mom, I need help". He only needed help washing his hands though. What a big boy.

The suprise came a little later while at home. I pulled off his pants to put him in his jams and -NO pull up! I asked him where is was "Casey's house". Great...that is not embarrassing at all.

Turns out-he at least put it in the bathroom trash.

OK, updates!!

Well, we went to Montana to visit Uncle Brian and Aunt Terra. We also went to the Wolf & Grizzly Bear exhibit. Lo LOVED the wolves! D was not too impressed with anything. We were so close to Old Faithful-so we made the trip to see it. It was butt cold-Lo reminded us of it by screaming the whole entire time we were waiting. But we were there and who knows when we will be back? I was NOT taking him back to the car (where he would have whined anyway!).

We drove back to Brian & Terra’s house in the dark-through Yellowstone. And I don’t actually mean “dark” I mean PITCH BLACK like the inside of a bear’s tummy. The boy’s had to potty. Which is not a problem for Lo who still has his socks & shoes on-we just threw a coat on him and got out with him. But D…he was another story. No sock & shoes for him. And he was in a short sleeved T-shirt. So, me being the Greatest mother of the year I grabbed D, took his pants off and out into the 9 degree blackness we went. Yup. I took my not quite 3 year old into pitch blackness in only his t-shirt. I held him sideways and I directed his business. As soon as he was done I threw him back into the car. No harm done. I hope.

We just had D’s 3rd birthday party today…a little late, but we did take him to Chuck E Cheese on his birthday so all is not bad. I will update with both & add some pictures :)

Potty training

Thought I would fill you in on how the potty training did...I did not actually think that I was going to do nearly as well as it seems that I did; or rather, D did much better than I expected :)

Monday D was in pull ups all day and we took him every 20-30 minutes. Tuesday I started with the underwear. It was pretty rough most of the day because it seems that he went every 10-15 minutes. And I was setting the timer for 15ish...and I would restart it after an accident.  Silly me!  I realized the value of the pull up when he went #2 in the undies.  It was super gross.
Wednesday was better-but not by much; still some accidents, but it seemed like he might have started to get it.
Thursday was awsome. We only had 2 accidents, and we even went out for lunch and shopping and to the park. He did great!!
Friday we slipped a little bit, but I was just so happy that he was getting the idea that I kinda let him have a day off...Okay, I was tired and did not really care...Do you blame me?

He still will not got #2 in the toilet.  He still says "mommy, i go poop" when he means that he has to go potty-right now.

Let's cut him some slack-he is doing AWESOME-let's remember that he is not even 3 yet!!

yeah, so.

Ok. I know.  Stop!  Seriously, I promise not to wait so long between posts. Even though no-one reads it anyway...

So, here it goes...it's gonna be long...so much to say...

13 more years...and an attempt at life...

The first day of kindergarten. Only ruined because I had to walk L into class and not just to the door like he asked me to. Oh well, not the first time I will embarrass him!! He loves class and loves riding the bus. D is pretty upset because he has never been without “brother” and stands in line to get on the bus too, but I think he is adjusting well.

This week I am on vacation. Well, sort of. I am attempting to potty train D. He is attempting to drive me crazy. I know that I am not succeeding, but suspect he is :)

And more about potty

The other day hubby was in changing the 'morning diaper' and asked if D wanted to go potty in the big boy toilet. D: "NO, I go now" and peed all over his comforter. Again-thanks Dad for cleaning that one up! And great job missing the flow :)

Pool Potty-I mean PARTY, right?!?

NO. I mean potty. Poop, to be exact. I thought that we were not going to put up the big pool this summer and thought to myself that we just had to have a pool. So I went and bought a little one for the boys to play in. Well, on the maiden voyage of said pool, D decided he would "christen" it. Not actually in the pool (thankfully) but right outside of it.

Scenario: We are getting ready to go in the house. L says that he needs to go potty. D (always ready to do whatever brother does) says "I poopy". Hubby and I look at each other with the "Ew. This is going to be messy" since there was not a diaper in those swim trunks. We ask "Did you poop your trunks?" "No, poopy right there" as he points to the side of the pool.
Totally hilarious!! So glad is was not in his pants!! Thanks Dad for cleaning that one up :)
